Cooking up new sales

Renowned for selling homemade products at weekly markets up and down the country, Country Markets is a unique co-operative comprising home cooks, crafters and gardeners. With the demand for locally produced foods growing, the business saw an opportunity to raise the profile of its cooks by helping them sell their produce to independent high street retailers under a new ‘The Cooks of Country Markets’ brand.

With support from the government’s ‘Making Local Food Work’ initiative, we were appointed to create the new identity and a ‘brand toolkit’ for the Cooks and retailers to use. We designed an eye-catching new logo plus branded stationery, retail display units, in-store posters and point-of-sale materials and a ‘share and support’ website that was built with an integrated facility to enable the cooks to produce branded labels for their homemade products.

Delighted with our work, the board of trustees then asked us to look at redesigning the Country Markets corporate brand in line with the Cooks identity and integrate our new positioning for the co-operative – ‘Cook, Craft, Grow’ – into the identity.

The work has been rolled out nationally and has been highly praised by both Country Markets and its Cooks, as well as consumers alike.
