Creating new appeal

According to research by national brewer Marston’s, 34% of shoppers are motivated to buy bottled beer on attractive labels alone and 60% of ale drinkers are ‘experimenters’ who regularly sample new products. These are the people Batemans set their sights on when we were briefed to refresh the presentation of its disparate and tired-looking bottled beer range. Central to our strategic approach was elevating Batemans’ reputation as a brewer of quality beer and bringing uniformity and interest to the range. We achieved this using a simple design framework for the labels with striking illustrations and a brewer’s ‘stamp of authority’. Gold foil and a UV varnish enhanced the premium appeal of each bottle.
