First impressions count

Many cosmetic surgeons have yet to see the value of selling their services online, let alone imagining themselves as a brand. A surgeon who has bucked this trend is Jag Chana, one of the UK’s leading specialists in plastic and cosmetic surgery, who has had a website for well over a decade and knows how vital it is for building an excellent first impression. And, like us, Jag also understands the importance of good design. However, with an identity and website starting to show signs of age, he was keen to undertake a cosmetic update of his own to help future-proof his business and promote a number of new services in the growing non-surgical cosmetic treatment market. He approached us with a brief. 

Inspired by the words Jag uses to promote his business – perfection and naturalness – we conceived a new identity based around a circle. The circle represents the Self, wholeness and symmetry – all aspects closely connected with the world of plastic and cosmetic healthcare. The new logo has standout and conveys a professional image, reassuring patients of Jag’s excellent reputation and the knowledge that they are in safe hands. 

We wanted the website to give visitors an accurate reflection of Jag’s practice and philosophy. Using a fresh, engaging theme and a soft colour palette that works in harmony with the primary blue lead colour, the result is an intuitive design that allows patients to scroll through a range of cosmetic procedures and solutions with a clear rationale as to why Jag is the right choice for them – before and after photos, videos, testimonials, price lists and news articles, plus FAQs and contact links to answer any questions patients may have. Working alongside photographer Nigel Ferguson, we art directed a library of new images to support Jag’s website and promote his brand in the press and media – portraits of Jag and his staff, patient consultations, operating theatre images and treatments.

Since launching the website, the impact of our work has already returned the investment made by Jag. The website is #1 in the Google rankings, online enquiries have increased by 71%, the bounce rate has decreased 25% and over 4,000 new people are now following Jag on social media. Most important of all, 80% of Jag’s new work is now coming directly from the website, which is a tremendous result.
