Leigh on Sea Brewery

In the can

Advances in digitally printed adhesive labels have reignited the popularity of canned beer. For breweries, it has given them the opportunity to expand their product range and to experiment with products in smaller quantities. This became a lifeline for many online brewery shops during the COVID pandemic, especially the independent brewers – and, unlike glass bottles, cans don’t carry the risk of breakage in transit. A case in point is Leigh on Sea Brewery who approached us at the beginning of lockdown with an urgent brief to create a new range of canned beers using the work we’d done on its bottled beers. The result makes the very most of our impactful brand design and Neil Fendall’s colourful illustrations, which on a larger canvas really shine.

More recently, we helped the brewery create a range of partnership beers with another local business, Ruark Audio, one of the UK’s leading hi-fi manufacturers. Ruark uses the beers to reach out to their international dealership base so we’re very proud to see our work winging its way across the world!

Happy client

“The appeal of our ‘Loveleigh’ looking cans has been instrumental in the brewery not only surviving the impact of the Covid lockdown, but actually increasing turnover during the period due to home sales. We are delighted with the work Blackbird Brands has done for us.”
