Adding festive cheer(s)

December really is the month of good cheer at Leigh on Sea Brewery. Not only is it all hands to the pumps with brewing duties, but the brewery’s annual festive beer is released. Last year’s ‘gift’ was an English Barley Wine, a traditional beer that originates from the 18th century (the word ‘wine’ is due to its alcoholic strength, which is similar to a wine). It needed an impressive label to do it justice and we obliged by creating a contemporary typographic design with a nod to traditional Barley Wine labels and a focus on the word ‘Loveleigh’. It was printed on a metallic foil paper, with a textured matt varnish and a touch of gloss varnish to enhance the beer’s premium image.
