Urban Veda is a new skincare brand developed around Ayurvedic principles. We were tasked with creating a packaging identity that would capture the essence of the brand in a modern way and challenge consumers to buy into the brand’s holistic benefits for mind, body and soul.

Nature is at the heart of Urban Veda and by starting with a series of creative concepts that explored this, we were better able to understand how the brand should communicate itself in today’s market. Inspired by the idea of a ‘garden of natural delights’, we illustrated a collection of plant silhouettes to convey the brand’s purity and botanical ingredients. Combining them with a distinctive logo, contemporary colour palette, strong typography and a simple brand language, we reinforced Urban Veda’s benefits for different skin types. And by paying close attention to the print detail, using matt and gloss varnishes to provide a quality feel and metallic Pantones with a raised ink for an embossed effect, we made sure the brand’s premium values stood out on shelf.

Underpinning this attention to detail, as well as supporting Urban Veda’s philosophy of sustainability, is the fact that all the packaging is recyclable, everything from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles and forest sustainability-certified cartons, to a special responsibly-sourced adhesive.

Since launching, Urban Veda has achieved significant growth. It has been shortlisted for over 40 industry and consumer awards and been highly praised for its brand presentation, led by Now magazine who featured it as a ‘Fab new British brand’. Most important though is that Urban Veda is helping educate consumers on the principles of Ayurvedic skincare techniques – and showing how its products can have noticeably beneficial results.
